Historical Census Data (100% Sample)

Access to the full count U.S. Census decennial datasets (1790-1950) with names and addresses is provided to University of Michigan researchers through a Virtual Data Enclave. Researchers can perform their analyses using the data in the enclave environment and then request disclosure of their output including summary statistics, figures, and regression coefficient estimates. These data are made available through a license with the Minnesota Population Center. Explore the IPUMS website for descriptions of available data. Researchers interested in applying to access these data at the University of Michigan should complete a research project application and researcher agreement. Download the Research Project Application (docx, 12 KB). Download the Researcher Agreement (docx, 191 KB). These completed documents should be emailed to [email protected].
